Mojuba Records represents the german independent music label established in the summer of 2005 and is located in Berlin, Germany. Mojuba Records as well as its sublabels A.R.T.Less and Wandering are a one-man company founded and managed by DJ and producer Thomas Wendel aka Don Williams.
The DJ and producer, Don Williams is the creative force behind these imprints and Tokomak's main founding member. His musical influences ranges from Classic, Funk and Jazz via Drum & Bass and Trip Hop to his beloved Detroit Techno and US House, which can be still enjoyed throughout his DJ-Sets. After a few releases on the legendary Pure Plastic imprint, he delivers tracks of his own brand of funk on labels like Rewired, Styrax Leaves and 100% Pure.
Mojuba was founded as a platform for the sweet sounds from the realm of deep house, but as it is known, exception proves the rule. A.r.t.less is the outlet for the techno side of things, and it is very likely to find some Detroit releated sounds here. Wandering, the last and youngest member in the label-family, is a platform for any other kind of great music which might not necessarily fit the other two labels, so we can expect tracks and songs ranging from freaking minimal to modern classic or even experimental stuff.
Mojuba has rapidly become a collectable label with a minor buzz surounding it. While Mojuba might still be very unknown for most, you should absolutely take a peak into this brilliant Deep House label. It might be more easy to understand these records if you find alot of the Detroit stuff a bit odd or difficult. Not all is highly innovative but there are something here that is astonishingly gorgeous pieces of deepness. So far everything has been topnotch productions.
Mojuba captures a dusky, Detroit-influenced style of deep and dubby house music in its intimately designed releases. Home to Nick Solé, Sven Weisemann, Jeremiah, Oracy, Bernard Badie, Stereociti, Chez Damier, Jouem, Roosevelt & Charles, D-Pulse, Tyree, just to name a few.
