E-Cutz represents the German label formaly known as Essential Cuts, but sadly defunct since June 2006. Co-founder of the Essential Cuts Studio in Duisburg, Germany in 1999, now better known as E-CUTZ, Nic Chagall worked together with Erich Schmeier (aka DJ Errik) and Andre Wevers (aka DJ Wave).

Nic Chagall, born Claus Terhoeven, is a German trance music producer and DJ. He is best known for being one half of the German trance duo Cosmic Gate. He was born in Krefeld, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany in 1972. He is the mastermind behind the high-flying DJ team Cosmic Gate, a highly prolific producer with hundreds of quality tracks to his name. Currently not only touring the hottest clubs around the globe every weekend, but out there established as one of the most creative and eclectic producers in the EDM scene.

Nic Chagall helped as an integral part to many trance projects, and he achieved a lot of his major international success from his single Monday Bar and then What You Need, which helped him gain the respect of other top DJs like Tiesto, Paul van Dyk, and Armin Van Buuren. His innovative producing is seen in the uniquely Rock-esque guitar riff in What You Need, which also made it stand out among other trance tracks. His other tracks are also very unique in terms of sound style, but he still manages to hold onto the emotional qualities that define Trance.

As one half of Cosmic Gate, he’s helped put them into #19 and #24 in DJMag‘s Top 100 for 2009 and 2010, respectively. Since forming in 1999, they’ve released singles like Exploration of Space and The Drums. Their music has transformed over the years. Their tracks that once showcased a more hard-hitting Trance, are now more subtly energetic songs.

Sublabel: Battle Beatz.

E-Cuts' back catalogue included acts such as: Cosmic Gate, DJ Snowman, Sioux, Submission, DJ Errik, Lee & Boheme, Natural Born Grooves, DJ Delicious, Nature One Inc, Armani & Ghost, Deejay Him, Lambler, Kindervater, and many others.
