Assemble Music was founded by Joao Maria & Miguel Neto in 2012 and is located in Lisbon, Portugal.
Lisbonís vinyl-only Assemble Music isnít messing around. Though the three tracks on this debut release from Dorian Paic each take aim at strikingly distinct dancefloors (LondonĖFrankfurtĖBerlin), they are unified by a credo of fine production values, functional savvy and a no-nonsense imperative to move.
Sometimes the dancefloor just needs to be told whatís what, and the message in ĎExcitedí couldnít be any clearer: the vocalís unhinged affirmations ("Acid! I am excited!") matching what the bassline has already established with unnerving directness, before mid-track rave sirens bring an added touch of 90ís UK hedonism to the party. ĎShakreí is a more cosmopolitan affair, taking the tracky practicality of Frankfurt/Mannheim house and imbuing it with the refined sense of space youíd expect from a Robert Johnson resident Ė itís a set builder for sure. Paicís precision is offset in typically otherworldly style by Perlonís Mayaan Nidam on the flip, though with source material this mean itís no wonder her oscillating, swung remix of ĎExcitedí reaches ever darker and wilder depths as it progresses.
With the EP as a whole itís a case of on your marks, get set and let go Ė giving Assemble some serious momentum for its forthcoming schedule.
Acts like Dorian Paic, Daze Maxim, St. Joseph, Vera, Ricardo Villabos, Voigtmann, Studio 1 are the first producers that released on this brandnew imprint.
