Ann Aimee (Delsin)

Ann Aimme e represents Delsin’s offshoot for deep electronica established in 2003 and based in Rotterdam, Netherlands. All releases from this dutch imprint come in beautiful sleeves by graphic artist Delta.

Delsin represents the Amsterdam based record label, started somewhere 1996 / 1997, and is was founded by Peel Samus. Peel Seamus is the owner and founder of Delsin Records. He started his Delsin label back in 1996 and been responsible for introduction of artists as Redshape, Quince & Newworldaquarium. Peel's dj-sets tend to lend also heavy on the house side.

Started over a decade ago, Delsin has grown to be one Europe's most influential labels dedicated to preserving the heritage of the original sound of Detroit technosoul. While Delsin has been covering many styles over the last decade - from deep electronica to deep house, abstract beats and electro - it is most commonly associated with the deep drifting techno represented by its new generation of artists like Quince, Taho, Vince Watson or Redshape.

Ann Aimee debut came with four modern techno tracks on this first release of a compliation series. The first of 4x4 vinyl releases from the Ann Aimee compilation, Inertia, this opening volume includes cuts from Time to Express Chief Peter Van Hoesen and Fachwerks Roman Lindau as well as fellow label recruits Delta Funktionen and Sawlin. All four new and exclusive tracks deal in techno urgency. Delta Funktionen goes deep and dramatic, Peter Van Hoesen offers up his usual dub-wise textures, whilst Lindau pairs icy hi-hats with a heavy stomping beat. Sawlin offers the trippiest techno with his delightfully dishevelled >Excipidial< and closes out what is an essential piece of vinyl.

With Delsin focusung on the 100DSR series to commemerate breaking the 100 release barrier, it seems as though the Dutch imprint’s techno-focused sub label Ann Aimee has taken a back seat in 2013. The label splurged on releases in 2011 with the four-part Inertia series which worked in a similar vein to 100DSR, with Ann Aimee commissioning 16 separate tracks from artists such as Redshape, Peter Van Hoesen, Lucy and Skudge, all of which were later compiled for the CD release of Inertia // Resisting Routine.

Three more Ann Aimee releases have surfaced since then, two from German techno producer Sawlin, and another from Ukrainian anchorite Yan Cook, though another is due from UK producer Mosca later this month. Mancunian duo AnD have been announced as the latest Ann Aimee signing, and as the name would suggest, their Ard Core Krew 12″ continues the dynamic tensions they’ve been championing since their profound change in sonic direction that can be traced back to last year’s Features / Vol 3 release on Shapednoise’s co-founded Repitch Recordings.
