Third Ear Recordings represents the music label from London, founded by Guy McCreery back in 2002. Third Ear is a label that releases music made primarily (but not exclusively) with synthesizers, computers and turntables/controllers as the musical instruments. Third Ear Recordings has released a consistent catalogue of idiosyncratic dance music during its decade of existence.
Third Ear Recordings is a bit like one of those highflying sons of diplomats with a "child of the world" demeanour. Dual UK/Japanese parentage meant that, for a time, the label called both London and Tokyo its home, while experiences and exposure to the city of Detroit shaped much of its early development. Later, uncles and aunts from New York and across Europe would help it reach maturity with different opinions and further schooling.
The UK-based Third Ear Recordings is certainly a familiar name to discerning fans of techno, house and deeper shades of electronic beat music, having emitted a steady stream of distinctive sounds over the past ten years from a globe-spanning selection of artists. From Hiroshi Watanabe and showcasing Japanese artists, to exploring the other side of Detroit with artists such as Delano Smith and Norm Talley and discovering fresh talent such as Wbeeza and Dopeus, Third Ear is a not only a record label. It’s a mixed platform of skilful artists, blending genres, ideas and ideals.
Third Ear Recordings' catalogue contain various artists such as, Carl Craig, Fabrice Lig, Kyle Hall, Lorca, Norm Talley, Rick Wilhite, Theo Parrish, Sarrass, Sanfuentes, Wbeeza, Dwayne Jensen, Charles Spencer, Benjamin Brunn, Emilie Nana, Delano Smith, Denite, Jason Hogans, Kiko Navarro, amongst many many others.
