Reginald Omas Mamode IV has a terrific track record thus far. Since delivering his debut 12? back in 2013, he’s barely put a foot wrong, with last year’s Intimate Friends released mini-album, All Together, being a particular highlight. This debut full-length is every bit as impressive as you’d expect, with the Peckham producer relying a little less on dusty samples, and rather more on loose, live drums, rubbery bass guitar, dreamy Rhodes keys, and other luscious instrumentation. As usual, the assembled tracks effortlessly join the dots between jazzy instrumental hip-hop, neo-soul, Mauritian drum workouts, broken beat and humid, tropical-tinged grooves.
