Greyhawk was born as Michiel Holtgreve in 1972 in Hilversum, The Netherlands. He is a member of a creative family. His father, also named Michiel Holtgreve, is a professional painter and his mother is sculptor. He was raised with the idea that you need to be creative if you would like to have something. Not that his parents were poor at the time but to stimulate the mind. This has had a positive impact on his mindset still today. Creativity is the main driver for his productions. Michiel has always been interested in multiple (electronical) styles of music and this is obvious when you listen to his tracks. So far Michiel has cooperated with multiple persons since he started to produce his own tracks in 1990, 2 years after the "big bang" called house-music. His first "Tecno flight" release was called "Fuck you", released on vinyl by Freaky Records in 1991. Nice to know that Olav Basoski made his first official remix for Michiel. Both the original track and remix were recorded in Olav's former studio in Haarlem, The Netherlands. Michiel also met Sander Hoeke in Olav's studio and after some nice sessions they decided to work together for a couple of years. A lot of tracks were produced and released on Djax-up beats from Saskia Slegers and Elecktrick recordings, an independent label in Haarlem, The Netherlands. Michiel also cooperated with Erik van den Broek at that time, a great source of inspiration for Michiel. Michiel and Sander also performed live in "Het Patronaat" in Haarlem, The Netherlands, "De Stalker" in Haarlem, The Netherlands and "Tivoli" in Utrecht, The Netherlands. After 3 years they decided to go their own way. Michiel started his professional career and met Dennis Visser at a Dutch sports channel called "Sport7". Michiel and Dennis became friends and decided to work together. A lot of releases took place on "Kyr Records" and also on Tiesto's label "In Trance We Trust". Main projects were Blairbitch and Vector7. Finally in 2007 Michiel and Dennis decided to start their own labels "Little Cube Recordings", "Paradock", "Hardbeat Records", "Stay Tuned Recordings" and "18 Recordings". All labels are sub labels of nanobe-music. Releases on these labels cover different styles: Techno, Trance, Progressive, Electro and Minimal House. Not only Michiel's and Dennis' (Deepmind) productions are released but they decided to release tracks from other talented producers as well. So far releases are sold through web portals like trackitdown, junodownload, dance-tunes, dj-tunes.com and beatsdigital. Check out their website nanobe-music and enjoy!
