Jennifer Cardini's Correspondant Records has been going strong for 8 years now. First starting off as a party at Paris's Rex Club the brand is now home to a plethora of artists from Naum Gabo to Daniel Avery.
When she founded her own record label CORRESPONDANT in 2011, JENNIFER CARDINI simply kept the name of her long-standing residency at Paris' Rex Club, as it were those legendary parties with guest artists from all over the world that inspired the seminal French DJ to build a platform for young talent and old friends.
Now, the label proudly presents the CORRESPONDANT COMPILATION 01, filled to the brim with innovative dance sounds for all circumstances and bringing you exclusive material from well-established luminaries as well as new discoveries.
For our first release Nhar and Plein Soleil will have the honors. Nhar began his productions alongside Kevin Scherschel as the 22 Crew and has since then worked with minimal house imprints Modelisme, Plak, Mobilee, factor city....On the B side comes Plein Soleil's interpretation. Lead by Krikor and Chloe, Plein Soleil need no introduction; everyone remembers their latest pressing on Live At Robert Johnson as well as their stunning remix of Losoul on Playhouse.
Cardini has built a reputation for sourcing on-the-pulse, progressive sound, having dedicated over two decades to electronic music. The producer, sound designer, and DJ launched Correspondant as an extension of her longtime residency by the same name at the preeminent Rex Club in Paris. To date, the Cologne-based label has issued 24 EPs and two compilations, featuring a loose collective of both emerging and established international artists. Correspondant also hosts regular nights in international clubs, including Rex Club in Paris, Stattbad in Berlin, Fabric in London, and Bootleg in Tel Aviv.
The label has cultivated a simultaneously elegant and asymmetrical aesthetic profile, inspired by the downtempo, cinematic mixing of Cardini’s warm-up sets at Rex. The year 2014 will see a brace of new signees bringing fresh approaches to production, further emphasizing the eclectic range of Cardini’s curation and the label head’s personal policy: any well-executed, compelling new sound is a Correspondant contender, irrespective of mainstream market inclinations in dance music.
New projects forecast for the forthcoming year include the development of a Correspondant booking agency, a series of full-length albums for label artists, and a move to Germany’s own electronic music Mecca, Berlin.
Correspndant is the home platform for a variety of artists such as: Nhar, Kevin Scherschel, Clement Meyer, Tomas More, Red Axes, Naum Gabo, Crono, The Hacker, Coma, Pulp Disco, Offset, Enola, and several others.
