| Brass bands have an excellent renown in Switzerland. Therefore, when a brass band was established as an independent unit organic to the Representative Military Band, the Swiss Army Band reacted to this situation The Brass Band of the Swiss Army Band consists of the top players coming from the entire brass band scene. Andreas Spörri, one of the leading and most competent conductors among the leaders of Swiss brass bands was appointed musical director of the band. He knows how to shape these fine players into a homogeneous ensemble, so that the Brass Band of the Swiss Army Band is capable of giving new momentum and setting new standards for the brass band community of Switzerland. The band was commended for its performance qualities on an international level when it toured the United Kingdom in 1998, and Austria in l999. Experts in these countries were thrilled by the unique musicianship and the fine symphonic brass sound. |
