Born and raised in England's industrial heart, Simon Owen is part of an exciting new wave of electronic artists emerging from the Birmingham underground. Co-founder of the Xenophorm group, he is currently producing for and managing the xe:tech:no imprint, whilst also holding the position of Chief Engineer at Xenophorm Studios in the heart of the UK's second city.
A classically trained musician of notable talent from an early age, his debut 12" single was released worldwide as part of the XTK#001 EP in 2006 and was shortly followed by a full-length production album 'The rainbow that set the sky on fire' in 2007. A continuing string of well received single releases and remixes on xe:tech:no and more recently on Picche Records in Italy, Mutate to Survive & Elektek in the UK, and Multikore in Berlin have only served to concrete his reputation as a sound designer with an ear for shaping dance floor-shaking Techno at its grooviest, who can count Dubfire, Richie Hawtin, Marco Carola, Paco Osuna and many more of the worlds biggest DJ's as supporters of his work.
Chief Engineer of Birmingham's prominent Xenophorm Studios since its opening in 2007, Simon has been (not so) silently responsible for many of the hot tracks on the thriving local underground scenes, and in a short time has gained the position of being one of the city's most sought-after freelance recording engineers and producers.
As a DJ Simon has entertained crowds around the country for nearly a decade with his trademark style of dark, groove-licked Techno at events such as Osmosis, The Construct, Bleep Bleep and Resonance whilst maintaining his online podcast 'theLAB Sessions', which regularly goes out to over 5000 avid Techno-Heads across the globe.
