Shannon aka ?DJ Shakes? Theobald is something of an anomaly in music, DJ Shakes born and raised in the East Rand. A steadfast work ethic, an obsessively extensive vinyl library and the willingness to pursue the full extents of his love for music (Deep house, Minimal, Afro and Afro deep), foundation (Deep house) and future (Afro deep) with no restraints.
Over 12 years ago Shakes realized he had an undeniable love for music; he took that passion and began polishing up his skills on the turntables. His popularity first came as being known for spinning all the hot deep house hits in the East Rand.
It all started back in the 90?s when he heard the Vinny Da Vinci deep house sounds listening to that disk, our crew then decided to start our musical journey. In 2001 4mydamself was established and turntables became his best friend. His love for music just grew from there. 2002 Saw the launch of BOOM BOOM ROOM Parties and Spread Love Charity events. Spinning the decks in the Jam Sessions in 2003 at Tequila Rock, after developing his own style of music he moved on to bigger night clubs by 2004 to 2006 he was playing at 115, Carfax, Maponya Mall, News cafe?s and various other entertainment venues, playing alongside house music greats such as Vinny Da Vinci, Black coffee Nastee Nev, G-Funk, are amongst his career highlights
The hottest DJ on the ones and twos today, Shakes has played at over 40 different local clubs and done events for MTN and VODACOM. His musical taste ranges from playing the most electrifying and thumping house to playing the most deep soulful sets
He then joined another DJ crew called Colourdblind and expanded his musical interests and talents. His hard work and dedication led him to start his own record label and release his own single on www.Junodownload.co.uk ?Shannon presents Shakes? under housegrown.
