Roman Smirnov started to develop his KORABLOVE project from 1996 on. It has been well accepted by musical community and audience, soon he became resident DJ of Par.spb, Red Club and Decadance, he also performed at the other clubs of Russia’s northern capital and participated St...ereoleto, East Blow, Nu Jazz, Plug'n'Play festivals.
His first solo live performance in St. Petersburg's "Par" club in 2004 was a beginning for a successful musical and creative carrier. Two years later his track "Deepets" appeared on a compilation of the Plug & Play label, which also published Korablove's first album – "The Secret of the Third Planet" – in 2007. The album was successfully distributed worldwide, having raised a great interest of deep/tech house and dub-techno listeners.
Later on Anton Kubikov from SCSI-9 noticed his work, and Korablove's tracks were included in his "Sonic Affairs" and "Nu:Gravity" mix compilations. His works also appeare on the compilations "Elektroschick Vol.2", "National Techno 3.0" and the compilation of the MIGZ festival. In 2008 Pro-Tez Records released his first 12" EP - "Yesterday (You Made Me Feel)".
Up to the present he released also on Night Drive Music, 3rd Wave Music, 2600 Records, General Records, KGBeats, Apparel Music, Algorithmik, Electronica and of course Pro-Tez. His story with Apparel Music is developing dynamically: Italian label published two of the Korablove’s releases with remixes of Tornike, Gennaro Mastrantonio and Yapacc.
Korablove is the co-author of two side projects: Rybalove- collaboration with Katya Ryba and Dubolom - with Egor KhZ. First time Dubolom played live at Kazantip festival in 2008. Nowadays Roman Korablove lives and works in Moscow.
He is busy with solo career and Barrytone project, experimenting with house-music and jazz. As Barrytone he has been released on Pro-Tez (Smokin’ Tunes EP) and Apparel Music (Jahzz EP). Korablove is the resident DJ of RTS.FM Internet radio-station. He plays at Paparazzi, Shanti, Soljanka, 6/2, Arma17 and other clubs of Moscow. He regularly travels across Russia and Europe
His music is hard to put in a clearly defined style. It is intuitive by it's origin but shows clear roots to Detroit's techno tradition, deep house and dub music.
