Dave started DJ?ing in 1988 after growing up listening to New Order, Joy Division, Depeche Mode, Japan, Kraftwerk and any other Electronic Music he could treat my ears to. I discovered House around the middle of 1986 when I used to tune into some of the pirate stations around at that time. I can recall that the first House record that I heard was Jesse Velez "Girls out on the Floor" and from that moment I was hooked!
My first DJ? slot was at Blackburn's iconic C?est la Vie night club working with Blackburn DJ and promoter Ronnie Brown. Soon I started a partnership with long time friend Tony Cannon and went onto DJ at the legendary ?Sett End? club in Blackburn. In 1989 both Tony and myself warmed the crowd up with our style of Acid House, Hip House & U.S Garage and we supported the likes of A Guy Called Gerald, 808 State The Inspiral Carpets, The New Fast Automatic Daffodils and Love Decade while also appearing on Steve Barkers Radio Lancashire show On The Wire with 808 state for good measure.
1989 was a tremendous year for House. The acid sound was now giving way to the deeper vocal orientated House sound and Hip-House was massive. I played at many of the Blackburn Raves along with Tony and even travelled South bound to DJ at the London ?ring-road? raves with such acts an early Prodigy! Then in came 1990, teaming up again with Tony Cannon we played alongside Marshall Jefferson and Alan Russell for a one off night of House Music in Blackburn. Trips to the Hacienda club in Manchester were also a regular part of life and shopping trips to Manchester for the new vinyl became part of my weekly ritual! I also did a few guest spots in other local venues in and around Blackburn and the North West of England.
In the early 90?s I sort of hung up my DJ boots as the parties had ceased and the scene had been taken by over gangsters , but in around 1993 I started regular nights at two bars in my home town of Blackburn playing the current sounds from across the globe. Around 1997 DJ and friend Ronnie Brown opened up a new bar in Blackburn called ?North Bar? and I Became resident DJ until around 2001 when we parted company.
I have taken a back step now with the live DJ?ing, just doing a handful of gigs now but I regulary appear on worldwide radio shows. I have recently done the UDM show 351 with Mark Stone and appeared on Mickey Cee's Sub Solo show on Push FM.
In 2009 I started producing my own sounds, and I also do some production work with DJ Tony Cannon. I have currently an EP under SoulDeep Inc. released 8th October 2010 on Soulshift records and I am working on a follow up Ep for the label. New releases imminent on Intelligent God Records and Pole Position Records and a track with Tony under the Two 4House name now out on Pole Position Records.
