Actually it lasts only a couple of minutes from the moment the sun touches the horizon until it has disappeared behind it. But we also associate the steadily smoothing light, the afterglow, the twilight and the finally dying daylight with the dusk. We might ask ourselfs what this last day was good for, or what the upcoming night will bring - maybe both.So the few minutes of the actually dusk become to hours; likewise a single tone can grow to a whole melody.
